Spencer, IA — Patients in Spencer now have access to advanced breast imaging and diagnostic care at Spencer Hospital.
Director of Diagnostic Imaging and Women’s Health Amanda Schany discussed the new services during this week’s Clay County Community Health Update.
Breast MRI provides highly detailed images of breast tissue that can help identify abnormalities that may not be visible through mammograms or ultrasound exams.
The hospital was previously designated a Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center by the American College of Radiology and is the only hospital within a 90-mile radius to hold the distinction.
Patients who require additional treatment can also access coordinated care through Northwest Iowa Surgeons and the Avera Cancer Center.
Breast MRI and MRI-guided breast biopsy services require a referral from a healthcare provider.
