Estherville, IA — The 28th Annual Sweet Corn Days returns to Estherville this weekend.

The event kicks off Thursday, July 30, and runs through Sunday, August 2.

Lexie Ruter with the Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce says organizers have put together a packed schedule of activities for all ages.

The celebration begins Thursday with the Downtown Market, opening ceremonies, the Burning of the Cobs, free s’mores, a bags tournament and a kids fishing competition at Carrico Heights Pond.

Friday’s schedule includes the Sweet Corn Days Golf Tournament, Family Night activities, food vendors, the Black Knights Sweet Cars Cruise-In, the Little Miss & Mr. Sweet Corn Pageant, fireworks and a free outdoor movie.

Ruter says two new attractions will make their debut this year.

Saturday’s lineup features a merchant market, food vendors, the Sweet Corn Days Parade at 10:30 a.m., a car show, inflatables, balloon animals, giant bubbles, firefighter water fights, a golf ball race and a street dance featuring The Schmidt Brothers.

One notable change this year involves the free sweet corn giveaway.
