Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) –

The sound from the Gallery at the Spencer Golf and Country Club hole 18 Green as Mendota Heights, Minnesota’s Joe Honsa rolled in his final put, officially making him the Champion of the 104th Northwest Amateur. Many year’s the score is close and that final put holds a lot of weight, but Honsa built up a big lead after the first 3 rounds, shooting a 63, 66, and 67 before turning in a 70 in his final round for a 22 below Par score, tying a Northwest Am Record. Honsa cleared 2nd place by a dominant 9 strokes.

Head Professional at the Spencer Golf and Country Club, Adam Coates, was very impressed with Honsa’s play.
