Spencer, IA (KICD) — Spencer Police have released new information about two accidents that occurred last Friday.

They received an erroneous report of a moped and motor vehicle collision on Grand Avenue around 8am. When they arrived, 14-year-old Caden Gress from Spencer said he lost control of his moped when a black truck that should have stopped on East 13th street darted across the highway. An eyewitness confirmed that’s what happened. It’s unknown who the driver of the truck was. Gress was transported to the hospital by his parents to be checked out.

Then last Friday night about 5:30, 52-year-old Scott Henry from Spencer lost control when he was rounding 11th Avenue Southwest at a high rate of speed, veered off the roadway to the right, re-entered the roadway, and then flipped upside down in the Southeast corner at the 5th Street Southwest intersection. He was wearing a safety belt and had to be extricated from the vehicle by Spencer Fire department and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was charged with failure to maintain control.
