Okoboji, IA — Homeowners near the popular Barefoot Bar at Parks Marina in Okoboji have asked the Dickinson County Board of Supervisors to limit parking on their street.

Sheriff Greg Balloun attended the meeting to say his department gets complaints from multiple spots with congested conditions – not just Loch Knolls.

Other complaints come for residents who don’t want construction crews or lawn maintenence crews parking near their homes.

County Attorney Jon Martin says there is no ordinance that prohibits parking in the county’s right-of-way, so now tickets can be issued.

Supervisor Steve Dullard suggested limiting parking in some area instead of banning it county-wide. A motion to that effect passed four to zero with one supervisor absent.

The headache of determing where the no parking signs should go up was directed to the Dickinson County Road Engineer’s office for study.
