Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Spencer Cross Country teams each will be looking to some key contributions from underclassmen in 2026.

The Spencer Boys graduate two State Qualifiers from the 2025 season.  Ade’ Thomas will be one of the top returners for the Tigers.  Thomas expects returners to step up into those high scoring rolls while the underclassmen compete to fill out the Varsity roster.

Easton Beehler, another top returner for Spencer, says the key to reaching one’s goals in Cross Country is focusing on the little things.

The Spencer Girls return quite a bit from their Varsity scorers in 2025.  Senior Katie Eilts is excited about the talent coming up in the Freshman class.

Summer training is important for Cross Country runners preparing for the new season.  Ava Morey talked with Northwest Iowa Now about the Summer and early season training.

The season opens up for the Spencer Cross Country teams on August 27th at home.  Some other key dates on the schedule include the Iowa Great Lakes Invitational, hosted by both Spirit Lake and Okoboji at Brooks Golf Club, featuring many teams from Northwest, North Central, and West Central Iowa.  Ridge View’s Tim Thomas Classic in Holstien, one of Iowa’s premiere Cross Country meets, will be on September 12th.  Sioux Center hosts their invitational on the campus of Dordt University September 24th, which features a true Cross Country course, bringing in teams from Nebraska, South Dakota, and Iowa.  The Siouxland Conference Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Spencer on October 13th, State Qualifying Meet will be October 21st, and the Class 3A State Championships are October 31st at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
