Coralville, Ia (KICD) – The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Wrestling Tournament begins Thursday morning at Xtream Arena in Coralville. The Spencer Tiger Girls are sending 7 athletes to the State Tournament, Coach Dave Storm told KICD that this team isn’t satisfied with just qualifying.

Defending State Champion Olivia Huckfelt also is hoping for some team success while pursuing an individual championship.

Kaylee Nachtingal has had a successful season so far, and she will be looking to improve on last year’s finish.

Coach Storm discussed some of the brackets that will be key to the Tigers competing for a trophy finish.

Brianna Johnson is focused on not getting to stressed out about the stage and wants to see the team perform well.

With getting 7 wrestlers into the State Tournament, it is very clear that The Tigers are hoping for a high finish as a team, Leila Kollasch wants everything that her team and her worked for to pay off.

With Girls Wrestling now a sanctioned sport, Coach Storm talked about the biggest difference from last year’s State Tournament to this year.

Spencer Tigers that qualified and will be wrestling at the State Tournament include Kailee Spencer at 115, Breanna Johnson at 120, Kyiah Logan at 125, Shaylee Sutherland at 135, Leila Kollasch at 155, Kaylee Nachtingal at 190, and Olivia Huckfelt at 225.

Other KICD area wresters in action will be Aurora Preston of Spirit Lake Park at 100, Trista Guinn of GTRA at 110, Avery Ballis of Okoboji at 140, and Hannah Illg-Keith of Sioux Central at #22.
