Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Eleven months ago, residents of Clay County approved an Emergency Medical Services levy, with an EMS plan to be determined. Board of Supervisor Chairman Barry Anderson says an advisory committee has been searching for the best way to make sure an ambulance is ALWAYS available to rural residents of the county, even if the Spencer Hospital ambulance is in service.

Anderson tells KICD News the consensus is to seek bids on an ambulance operator.

Anderson says they’ll meet after the fair to come up with requirements for the potential bidders.

The additional levy should raise just under one million dollars a year.
