Sheldon, IA (northwestiowanow) — Northwest Iowa Community College has set a new all-time fall enrollment record for 2026.

This year, NWICC has 2,068 students enrolled for the Fall 2026 semester. That total surpasses last year’s enrollment of 2,009 students, an increase of 59 students or 2.94 percent.

NWICC President Dr. John Hartog says families are taking a closer look at the value of higher education.

This marks the third consecutive year Northwest Iowa Community College has established a new enrollment record and represents a 26.6 percent increase over the past decade.

Hartog says the college’s growth has been fueled in part by its focus on career and technical education programs that align with regional workforce demands.

He says NWICC plans to continue expanding opportunities for students in the years ahead.
