Spencer, IA (northwestiowanow) — Spencer Hospital provided more than $8.9 million in community benefits and served nearly 34,000 patients during Fiscal Year 2025.

According to a new report from the Iowa Hospital Association, the hospital continued to serve as both a healthcare provider and an economic driver for northwest Iowa.

The report shows Spencer Hospital employed 1,025 people and paid $90.3 million in salaries and wages during the fiscal year.

Spencer Hospital President and CEO Brenda Tiefenthaler says those investments not only improve quality of life for area residents but also support the region’s economy.

Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation President and CEO Curt Strouth says access to quality healthcare plays a major role in attracting businesses, workers and families to northwest Iowa.

Hospital leaders say they remain committed to continued investment.

According to the report, Iowa hospitals collectively provided more than $1.4 billion in community benefits during Fiscal Year 2025 while supporting more than 146,000 jobs statewide.
