Sioux Center, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Spencer Tiger Football team was on the road Friday Night for the second straight week, now taking on the #3 ranked team in Class 3A Sioux Center.
The Warriors offense got off to a roaring start, scoring Touchdowns on each of their first 3 possessions. Spencer’s first 3 drives resulted in a fumble, 3-and-out, and missed field goal. Sioux Center led 20-0 going into the second quarter.
In that 2nd, Spencer’s offense was able to get moving, scoring twice on a Temi Otaniyi Touchdown run and a Larson Vulk Touchdown Run, but both scores were answered by Touchdowns from Sioux Center. The Warriors led at the half 33-13.
Spencer’s offense kept the ball moving in the 3rd quarter, scoring twice again with Touchdown runs from both Colton Platt and Temi Otaniyi. The Tiger Defense still could not stop the high-octane attack from Sioux Center, and specifically Quarterback Ezra Hibma, who had Touchdown runs of 2 and 61 yards in the 3rd quarter.
The Warriors led going into the 4th Quarter 39-27, and Ezra Hibma threw an 11-yard Touchdown pass and ran for a 24-yard Touchdown in the final 12 minutes, giving Sioux Center the win in the final result 52-27.
Ezra Hibma was unstoppable for Sioux Center, finishing with 154 passing yards and 260 rushing yards with 5 total Touchdowns. Tate Swager added 145 yards on the ground for the Warriors with a pair of Touchdowns. Sioux Center racked up 631 yards of total offense, with 477 of those on the ground.
Sioux Center stays unbeaten at 4-0 on the season and will be on the road next week to open up Class 3A District 1 play against Bishop Heelan of Sioux City.
Spencer’s second straight loss drops them to 2-2 on the year, and they will be back home for their homecoming contest against Le Mars, opening up Class 4A District 1 action.
