Ruthven, IA (KICD) — A woman identifying herself as the aunt of the 5-year-old girl struck by a hit and run driver in Ruthven Sunday night is providing KICD News more information about the incident, and a medical fund that has been opened at a local bank.

Tricia Semple says Mackenzie Puterbaugh suffered a punctured lung, bruised liver, injured ankle, and required stiches on her face. Luckily the girl was released from a Sioux Falls hospital already on Tuesday.

The Benefit fund for Mackenzie Puterbaugh has been opened at Ruthven State Bank.

As we reported Monday, an Estherville woman was arrested in Spirit Lake in the vehicle believed to be involved in the accident Sunday night, and was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, resulting in serious injury, driving on the wrong side of the road, having an open container of alcohol in her vehicle, and failure to provide proof of insurance.
