Superior, IA (KICD) — The Dickinson County Sheriff’s department has released a small amount of information about an accident near the East intersection of Highway 9 and 71, that had traffic shut down for an extended period of time Tuesday.

69-year-old Timothy Wikert of Collins was Westbound in a pickup pulling a trailer, crossed the center line, and side-swiped the Eastbound car driven by 25-year-old Jackson Fischer of Spirit Lake.

There were five injuries, but authorities are only releasing the names of the two drivers. Two individuals were taken to the hospital in Spirit Lake with incapacitating injuries, two were taken to Estherville with non-incapacitating injuries, and one was treated at the scene.

The Iowa State Patrol, Spirit Lake Police Department, Superior Fire and Rescue, Spirit Lake Fire Department, Milford Extrication unit, and Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance were all deployed to the scene. The accident occurred at 4pm.
