Milford, IA (northwestiowanow) — The City of Milford has approved adding a second officer to Dickinson County’s regional HEAT response team.

The High-Risk Entry and Arrest Team, or HEAT, assists law enforcement agencies with critical, high-risk situations that can go beyond the equipment or tactical capabilities of regular patrol officers.

Recently, the team has been declining in numbers.

Milford Mayor Bob Clark says he has heard potential interest.

Clark added that whoever is selected would still have to be accepted by the team and go through the required training and probationary process.

Councilman McIntyre Arndt expressed support, saying it would provide additional trained coverage for the area.

Councilman Shane Hoffman made the motion to approve it, with the council voting unanimously in favor.
