Storm Lake, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – A shorthanded Spencer Volleyball team was on the road Tuesday night to take on rivals Storm Lake in Siouxland Conference play.

A young Tornadoes group, hungry for their first win since late August, jumped on Spencer early, outlasting the Tigers in long rallies to pick up points.  Dikaia Dahlhauser had a strong set off the bench for Storm Lake, and some Spencer mistakes helped the Tornadoes take set 1 25-23.

The Tigers bounced back in set 2, buoyed by a nice run early with Jersey Vail on the serve, collecting a pair of aces.  Storm Lake was able to get a late run going with Freshman Reggan Johnson on the serve, but the deficit was too big and Spencer picked up the win in set 2 25-17.

Reagan DeHaan had a big set for the Tornadoes in set 3.  While Spencer struggled at the net, especially early in the set, the Storm Lake Sophomore piled up 4 Kills, and Storm Lake came away with a 25-20 win in the set to go up 2-1.

With their backs against the wall, Spencer put together their best set of the evening in the 4th, winning 25-14.  The came out and controlled the 5th set in a 15-11 win to come from behind and beat Storm Lake 3 sets to 2.

Spencer improves to 11-16 on the year and 2-3 in the Siouxland Conference while Storm Lake falls to 2-18 and 0-6 in the league.
