Hartley, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the cause of an accident Thursday morning on Highway 18 in Hartley. 48-year-old Jeremy Stueven of George was Westbound in a semi when two tires from the real axle of the semi-tractor flew off and one of them struck an oncoming car.

60-year-old Scott Wilson of Hartley was Eastbound in a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer which was totaled. The airbags were deployed and the passenger – 60-year-old Kimberly Wilson of Hartley – was treated at the scene by EMTs.

The accident occurred around 11:30am.
