Carroll, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — A former Lakes area resident serves the Best Breaded Tenderloin in Iowa according to the Iowa Pork Producer’s Association.

Missy Handlos – she was Missy Lengeling when she operated Cappelli and Company in Milford – and her husband Cory opened the Wasted Grains restaurant in Carrol just three years ago.

Cory is somewhat of a tenderloin snob and kept tinkering with the recipe.

Handlos refused to give KICD’s George Bower the recipe but finally did reveal what she thinks made the difference.

The Iowa Pork Producers says 454 Iowa restaurants were nominated online with the to five being sampled by a team of judges including professional chefs.

Wasted Grains advertises that it is open seven days a week and 365 days a year if you want to make a road trip.
