Cherokee, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — The DOT work currently being done around Spencer’s North Y is preliminary work that will move traffic during the actual construction of the roundabout next year. District three Transportation Planner Sarah Tracy tells KICD News they should be ready to move as soon as the weather breaks in the spring.
Those slanted roads motorists see now will not be permanent but rather will be the way to move traffic between North and South bound lanes during various segments of next year’s construction.
The DOT says their statistics show the number of accidents is reduced when traditional intersections are replaced by roundabout and the North Y has a history of accidents – many serious.
