Spirit Lake, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — The Lakes Area Museum Alliance was formed in 2023 with seed money from the Spirit of Okoboji. Board member Mary Dreier says their benefactor this week surprised them with another 100-thousand-dollar donation.

Dreier tells KICD News the 13 member museums seem to be benefitting from the collective effort.

LAMA has been so successful – in fact – they were asked to present a seminar at this week’s meeting of the Iowa Museum Association.

The thirteen member museums are: Arnolds Park, Iowa Great Lakes Maritime, and Iowa Rock and Roll Museums, and the Abbie Gardner Cabin in Arnold Park; Clark Museum, Okoboji Classic Cars, and Iowa Lakeside Laboratory in Milford; Pearson Lakes Art Center, Dickinson County Nature Center, and Higgins Bank Note Museum of Okoboji; The Dickinson County Historical Society and Winchester Store Museum in Spirit Lake; and Heritage Square in Lake Park.
