Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — Ten subjects – one female as young as thirteen – have been charged in a Tuesday morning melee involving firearms in Storm Lake.
Police say it appears to have started when a group stopped a car in the 15 hundred block of Sugarcreek Lane and assaulted the driver. When nearby residents intervened, they were also attacked and threatened with guns.
After police showed up the suspects holed up at 725 Lilly Court where they refused to exit for three hours.
After they came out the residence was searched, and police say they found two handguns – one reported stolen from Cherokee – and the victim’s wallet.
Eight individuals were charged with 1st degree robbery, seven were charged with assault causing serious injury, seven were charged with rioting, and one was charged with unauthorized possession of an offensive weapon.
The investigation continues and police say more arrests are possible.
