Spirit Lake, IA (KICD) — It’s Shake the Lakes weekend at the Spirit Lake high school. Twenty-one jazz choirs are scheduled to compete today. The schedule is subject to change, but Sibley Ocheyeden is scheduled for 12:30; Harris Lake Park at 1:40; Emmetsburg at 3:30; Hartley Melvin Sanbourn at 4:40 immediately followed by Alta-Aurelia; and Estherville Lincoln Central tonight at 8:15.

Saturday’s full day of Show Choir competition is scheduled to feature North Union Middle School at 8:40 and Emmetsburg Middle School at 9. High school show choirs take the stage in the afternoon with Emmetsburg at 1:05.

Tickets are 10 dollars for adults and 5 dollars for students each day. It’s an opportunity to see 4A schools like Council Bluffs, Ralston, Bellevue, and Lewis Central perform without traveling. Spirit Lake’s Middle School, Junior Varsity, and Varsity show choirs will be performing as exhibitions only since they don’t compete in their own competition.
Finals begin at 7:00 Sunday night with the top six show choirs called back for encore presentations. Shake the Lakes is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Spirit Lake music program.
