Spencer, Ia (KICD) – The First Flight wrapped up early this afternoon in the 102nd Northwest Am at the Spencer Golf and Country Club.
The round began at 6:20 this morning with the first flight going off of Hole 1 and Hole 10. PGA Professional at the Spencer Golf and Country Club says the Tournament is off to a strong start.
Coates has been hearing good things from the competitors about the course conditions.
Ossian, Iowa’s Logan Schweinefus led most of the round, but had a bumpy final two holes, dropping him in to 2nd.
Schweinefus hopes to play better on the Par 3s when he gets back on the course on Friday.
The 2023 Northwest Am Champion Brett Benson started strong, and finished stronger, leading the pack after the first flight with a 7 below Par.
Benson was in a strong group, that included Arthur, Iowa’s Axton Miller, who is tied for 4th with a 4 below Par. Miller is actually a former student of Benson’s.
Brett Benson leads the way with a 7 below Par, followed by Logan Schweinefus in 2nd with a 6 below Par. Norwalk’s Dennis Bull is 4 below Par, tied for 4th with Axton Miller.
