Spencer, IA (KICD)– The Spencer City Council awarded a contract on Monday to build a new area of sidewalk on the east of town.

Deputy City Manager Brian Weuve says this project is being done mostly for safety purposes considering the distance from one of the city’s schools.

Engineer Ross McWhirter with Kruse, Cate and Nelson noted there was quite a bit of interest in this particular project.

The council unanimously decided to award the contract as recommended by engineers at a bid of $144,076.00.
