Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)– The Spirit Lake School Board was briefed Monday night on findings from a recent assessment looking at overall safety in its buildings.
Assistant High School Principal Josh Bolluyt told the board some of the findings in the final report come down to some information school officials were not asked for by those conducting the assessment.
Bolluyt says some notes on notification systems were also brought forward, some of which could be completed when specific funding can be achieved.
Some of the other findings from the vulnerability assessment included things like emergency identification signage inside classrooms and considering having some kind of protection from vehicles outside of school structures.
Spirit Lake School ultimately underwent the study as part of the process to apply for grant funding.
