Ottosen, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The State Fire Marshall has been called to Kossuth County to investigate a house explosion.
The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Department was called to 606 110th Street – about 2 miles Northeast of Ottosen, or about six miles Southeast of West Bend – around 9 Monday morning.

First responders located 44-year-old Catherine Fleischhacker in the rubble. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Algona and air-lifted to Mason City with undetermined injuries.

Another resident – 21-year-old Brett Lanning – was able to crawl out from under the debris on his own and was taken to the hospital in Humboldt County.  Kossuth and Humboldt County Emergency Management, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department, and West Bend Police assisted at the scene.
