Orleans, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Iowa Department of Natural Resources Biologist Mike Hawkins says water quality is still not back to where it was before the flood in the Iowa Great Lakes.
Hawkins tells Northwestiowanow.com the effects of all of those nutrients might be seen for some time.
Hawkins estimates 18 hundred acres of wetlands in the Iowa Great Lakes watershed have been created in the past 40 years. Many groups are interested in creating more, especially after the flood of 2024.
