Emmetsburg, IA (KICD) — The state racing and gaming commission says Iowa’s casinos contribute a lot of money to the state’s economy. CEO Brian Ohirilko has the figures for all 20 facilities including the Wild Rose in Emmetsburg.
And that doesn’t include the grant money given to Palo Alto and contiguous counties through the Community Foundation Grants.
Ohirilko tells KICD News that casinos together routinely generate a billion dollars in activity.
Last year the casinos took in one billion seven hundred sixty-six million dollars in revenue. Prairie Meadows in Altoona was the highest at 228 million. Horse Shoe Bend in Council Bluffs was the only other casino to crack 200 million brining in 2022. The Casino Queen in Marquette was on the low end at 21 million dollars. The Emmetsburg casino ranked 19th out of 20 with revenues last year of just slightly under 31 million.
