Primghar, IA (KICD)– A Hospers man is going to prison on a conviction for having indecent contact with a child.

A criminal investigation against 68-year-old James Hanno was opened in Sioux County last January after being identified as a suspect in a sexual abuse investigation. Further investigation led to the discovery that Hanno was also believed to be involved in a sexual abuse cases in O’Brien, Sioux and Cottonwood Counties.

Hanno entered a no-contest plea on Monday to third degree sexual abuse in O’Brien County and a guilty plea for indecent contact with a child in Sioux County. He was given up to ten years behind bars for the O’Brien County offense and up to two years in Sioux County.

He will also be required to register as a sex offender for life and will be on a special lifetime parole sentence following his release from prison.
