Storm Lake, IA (KICD)– A storm Lake man has been charged with second degree theft and stand accused of stealing a vehicle on Monday evening.

Police were contacted around 6:45 after the vehicle’s owner was notified by another individual that their vehicle was seen on Highway 7 outside of town with an unidentified driver.

The vehicle was found about 45 minutes later abanonded in a ditch with the suspected driver, 24-year-old Matson Alafonso reportedly found walking a short distance away.

He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held on five thousand dollars bond.
