Spencer, IA (KICD)– March is recognized as National Nutrition Month, a 50-year-old campaign inviting everyone to learn more about making informed food choices and developing healthy eating and physical activity habits.

Darlene DeWitt is the outpatient Dietitian at Spencer Hospital. She tells us this year’s theme “Fuel for the Future” applies not only to each of as an individuals but also various needs as our bodies develop and grow.

Then there is the piece of eating in a way that is not only healthy, but also affordable.

When making food decisions, DeWitt also encourages everyone to think about the environment with items that have minimal packaging, can be recycled or are locally grown and produced.
