Washington, DC (northwestiowanow.com) — A portion of the KICD Broadcast area has now entered the D-2 Severe Drought category in the USDA Drought Monitor.

Sixteen percent of the state is now in Severe Drought, up from seven percent last week.
All of Osceola and Dickinson County slipped into that category this week along with the Western half of Emmet County and the Northern tips of O’Brien and Clay Counties.

Fifty-seven percent of the state is in Moderate Drought, up from forty-nine percent. Just 2.46 percent is drought-free, the remainder is listed as “Abnormally dry.”
