Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — One of Spencer’s most well-known citizens has passed away at the age of 85.

Del Brockshus founded Del’s Garden Center in Spencer in 1967, when he was a recent graduate from Iowa State University.
Bob Rose is the retired Executive Director of the Spencer Area Chamber of Commerce.

 

Brockshus served as a Clay County Supervisor from 1993 to 2016, overlapping with current Supervisor Barry Anderson.

 

Brockshus was also active in Spencer Community Theatre, and for over forty years hosted a call-in radio program – Del’s Grapevine – that still airs on KICD AM.
