Washington DC (Northwestiowanow.com) — The average price for corn on the spot market in Iowa in September was $4.09 per bushel, up 7 cents from August but down $1.13 from September of 2023. Nationwide average was $3.98, up 14 cents for the month but down $1.23 year over year.
Iowa farmers received $10 on average for soybeans in September, down 10 cents for the month and $3.10 for the year. The natiowide average was $10.20 compared to 10.30 in August and 13.20 in September of 2023.
Iowa milk prices were $25.70 per 100 pounds in September, up $2.40 for the mont and $5.80 over last year’s prices. The nationwide average was $25.50 up $1.90 from August and $4.60 higher than September of last year.
The average price for a ton of hay in the state was $109 per ton, down $12 from August and $5.80 from last September. Average price for alfalfa was $114 per ton, down $9 for the month and $61 lower than year ago levels.
