Spencer, IA (KICD)– The founder of the Spencer Trails Association is hoping to see some progress in the near future on a section of trail stretching to the northern county line.
Kathy Renken started the group in 2006 to complete the five mile stretch to the Fostoria area and after researching a bigger a goal in 2014 she realized not having this section was a safety issue.
Renken was recently in Des Moines for the Iowa Bike Summit and says completing the stretch of trail in Clay County will help reach a much bigger goal of connecting more of the state.
The Clay County Board of Supervisors was informed last week of plans to put this project out for bid with the Iowa Department of Transportation in July with hopes of having work complete by sometime next summer.
