Cherokee, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — A 23-year-old Cherokee man has been sentenced to three years in a federal prison for possession of pornography featuring minors.

Krystopher Cordeiro was prosecuted by Assistant U.S.Attorney Kraig R. Hamit in federal court in Sioux City.

Evidence presented in the case indicated law enforcement performed a search of Coredeiro’s residence in September 2023 and discovered over 200 images and 10 videos of actual children, and over 1 thousand virtual images and 133 virtual videos.

Coredeiro must also pay 6 thousand dollars restitution, over 6 thousand dollars in fines and will be on five years supervised released following his 36 months incarceration.

The case started with a cybertip based on Cordeiro’s online search history.
