Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Spencer City Council is in the process of changing the requirements for the vacant City Manager’s position. Former Mayor Kevin Robinson is currently performing the duties on an interim basis and has expressed interest in assuming the role permanently.
He physically left the room Monday night when the issue was discussed in a workshop session. Human Resources Manager Jessica Wright explained the currently requirements for both education and what type of experience is necessary.
Councilman Donovan Wunschel expressed the dominant view that the ordinance should be changed.
During the actual council meeting the five members who were present voted unanimously to change the job description reading that education and experience will be considered but will no longer be mandatory.
The ordinance needs another reading to become effective.
