Arnolds Park, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Friends of the Abbie Gardner Cabin in Arnolds Park are pleased with two recent developments.

First, the state of Iowa has replaced the roof on the structure, negating the need to place a protective tent over it this winter. President Anita Bomgaars says the group paid for a site assessment so they could demonstrate the need before permanent damage was done to the building – most of which dates back to the 1850s.

And two paintings that are over one hundred years old depicting the massacre have been sent to Des Moines where the painting conservator Sara Boisen is cleaning and restoring them thanks for a grant from the International Questers. The painting was procured by Abbie Gardner and are on permanent display at the current museum.
