Primghar, IA (KICD)– A Sanborn man accused of robbing a local bank earlier this year will go to trial after pleading not guilty earlier this week.
40-year-old Del Martinnez Evans Jr. was arrested in January after the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from Sanborn Savings Bank saying a teller at the financial institution had been handed a note saying they were being robbed before the suspect then left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash without displaying or mentioning a weapon.
Descriptions from those inside the bank led police to Martinnez Evans Jr.’s home where he was taken into custody about an hour after the incident.
He has been charged with robbery and theft both in the second degree.
Online court records show the defendant’s trial is scheduled to begin April 16th.
