Northwest Iowa (KICD)– The first business day of the new year is a busy one for many groups including county government bodies as they hold their annual organizational meeting.
The first step for the Board of Supervisors in each county is to name a chairperson for the coming. Clay County tends to follow a rotation for its leader making this year Randy Swanson’s turn to sit at the head of the table with Supervisor Art Hamrick named Vice-Chair.
Dickinson County went through a brief nomination process before Bill Leupold was again named chair for that board with Tim Fairchild elected as the back-up.
Next on the docket is appointing representatives to the various committees around the county which was temporarily stopped in Spirit Lake to give the board an opportunity to look into some of the names on the list for the Eminent Domain Commission at the request of Supervisor Tim Fairchild.
Other business on the organizational side involves assigning each board member to represent the county on boards and committees giving each member the opportunity to stay with what they have, try something new or in the case of Clay County giving new members a chance to build some experience.
