Ames, Ia (KICD) – Area Schools competed at the IATC Indoor Championships on Thursday and Friday.

Because of weather, area girls competitors were unable to make the trip on Thursday.

The Boys meet took place on Friday.

Area Individuals placing in the top 8 for the boys 1A and 2A Meet include the Okoboji 4x800m Relay team of Evan Osler, Drew Sandven, Dylan Jones, and Trigg Heimdal placing 2nd in 2A with a time of 8:33.08. Emmetsburg’s Cade Shirk took 8th in the 2A Boys 60-meter Hurdles with a time of 9.12 seconds. Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn’s Kooper Ebel was 2nd in the 1A 60-meter dash with a time of 7.24 seconds. Okoboji’s Evan Osler was 2nd in the 2A 1600-meter run with a time of 4:39.99. His teammate Trigg Heimdal was 7th with a time of 4:52.49. The Okoboji 4×100 meter relay team of Tyler Sehman, Joe Salmon, Domenic Jutting, and Ethan Schlachter took 3rd in 2A with a time of 45.54 seconds. Okoboji’s 4×400 meter relay team of Dylan Jones, Drew Sandven, Elijah Graves, and Evan Osler was 5th in 2A with a time of 3:39.47. Emmetsburg’s Byron Maina was 7th in the 2A High Jump with a height of 6 feet 1 inch.

Des Moines Christian won the 2A meet with 65 points. Okoboji would place 5th as a team with 30 points. Emmetsburg was 9th with 20.

In the Boys 3A and 4A meet Spencer’s Gavin Timmer was 5th in the 3A 400-meter Dash with a time of 51.68 seconds while Spirit Lake’s Qamerin Hussey took 8th with a time of 52.34 seconds. In the 3A Boys 60-meter Hurdles Spirit Lake’s Carter Toews was 3rd with a time of 8.53 seconds. In the 3A 800-meter run Spirit Lake’s Ryder Sundall was 3rd with a time of 2:01.65. The Spirit Lake Shuttle Hurdle Relay team of Carter Toews, Drew Alger, Ethan Stecker, and Jake Cornwall took 1st place with a time of 33.13 in 3A. Spirit Lake’s 4×100 Meter Relay team of Carter Toews, Drew Alger, Jake Cornwll, and Logan Sandman was 3rd in 3A with a time of 44.25 while Spencer’s team of Keaton Stanzel, Adrian Carillo, Campbell Wessels, and Miles Robbins was 5th with a time of 45.54. Spencer’s 4×400 meter relay team of Gavin Timmer, Reid Tigges, Preston Pitts, and Ross Carlson was 3rd in 3A with a time of 3:36.54. Spirit Lake’s Dylan Stecker was 1st in the 3A High Jump with a height of 6 feet 4 inches while Spencer’s Preston Pitts was 7th with a height of 5 feet 9 inches. Spencer’s Cole Cantrall took 6th in the 3A Shot Put with a toss of 47 feet 7.25 Inches.

Pella won the 3A meet with 60 points. Spirit Lake was 4th with 40 points and Spencer took 12th with 19.
