Spencer, IA (KICD)– Area law enforcement agencies will be out in full force on Thursday hoping to decrease impaired driving brought on by marijuana use.

Iowa State Patrol Trooper Kevin Krull tells KICD News not only is any kind of impaired driving illegal, but it is known to be responsible for a significant number of fatalities over the last several years.

Trooper Krull notes drug-impaired driving can also be categorized as a type of distracted driving which law enforcement is trying to reduce.

Besides getting impaired and distracted drivers off of the roads, police will be working to make sure travelers are safe this prom season which for several area schools will be taking place this weekend.
