Spencer, IA (KICD)– The State of Iowa recently instituted a new law that ends income taxes being taken out of pensions, but where is that revenue going to be made up?
Representative Megan Jones of Sioux Rapids admitted at Saturday’s Eggs and Issues legislative forum that she was a bit nervous at first when this bill passed but says a plan was thoroughly developed.
Representative John Wills says this move was actually made to return some of the over taxation to Iowans.
Senator Lynn Evans of Cherokee added that there really is no need to replace these dollars based on projections for the next several years.
Senator Dave Rowley of Spirit Lake says the ability to start giving tax money does come with some big responsibilities, but it appears the cards will play out in the state’s favor.
