Spencer, IA (KICD)– The State of Iowa is beginning work on a reorganization of sorts that is expected to reduce redundancies in state agencies and cut down the number of cabinet positions.
Some time on this matter was spent at Saturday’s Eggs and Issues Legislative Forum where Senator Lynn Evans noted one of the benefits to the work being done in the legislature right now will help cut expenditures for many state organizations.
Representative Megan Jones is also hopeful to see some changes in policing the policy to make sure the rules are the same for everyone.
Senator Dave Rowley added the bill as written will reduce the number of redundant services offered.
Representative John Wills further put a big “mistruth” to bed that has been heard with this bill while also showing he is very confident with it.
Saturday’s discussion comes as lawmakers worked diligently to get this and other bills out of committee before the first funnel deadline. They now have until March 28th to make progress before legislation will be considered dead for the session.
