Jackson, MN (KICD)– A Jackson man is in custody after multiple police agencies converged on a local motel Wednesday morning.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from the Econo Lodge just before 9:45 with the caller reporting he had been assaulted by another man who was armed with a pistol.
Multiple deputies arrived at the scene within minutes and learned the suspect had since retreated into a room on the second floor. After seeing the suspect at the top of the stairs with the firearm, units themselves retreated and began clearing other rooms on the premises before then engaging in a stand-off for about two hours before an arrest was made.
The suspect, only identified as 28-year-old man who reportedly lives at the motel, has been charged with probable cause second degree assault with a deadly weapon and domestic assault strangulation.
The original 911 caller was also found to have visible injuries but declined medical treatment at the scene.
