Storm Lake, IA (KICD)– The Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors, on a contested vote, have decided to move the Auditor’s Office out of the courthouse in Storm Lake and into a building down the street.
The decision was made Tuesday after months of discussion that one point even involved the board temporarily deciding to sell the former Colorize building when an agreement on what to put there could not be reached.
Supervisor Kathy Croker was against the idea citing a concern of parking and possible issues with residents having to do some back and forth when having to do business with county offices.
The discussion originally arose when the Auditor’s Office began looking for a solution to avoid having election equipment stored in various locations making difficult and at time dangerous to access.
The board voted three to two on making the move with Supervisors Kelly Snyder, Paul Merten and Dan Hartmen voting in favor while Croker and Supervisor Rhonda Ringgenbuerg were opposed.
