Spirit Lake, IA (KICD) — The cause of the Saturday house fire in Spirit Lake will be listed as “unknown”. One home was totally lost with a neighboring structure receiving extensive damage. Fire Chief Pat Daly says they also examined some photos trying to figure out where the blaze might have started, but there just wasn’t enough evidence left.

The area called Monarch Cove is served by rural water, which isn’t adequate for emergency situations, so water had to be pumped at the scene. The Arnolds Park / Okoboji, Milford, and Lake Park fire department were called for backup, and Daly says others helped in challenging conditions.

The initial fire was reported at 15365 213th Avenue.
