Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)– Charges against a Spirit Lake man have been reduced as part of a plea deal reached with the court.

22-year-old Brian De Jesus Alameda was orginally charged in April after police were called to a domestic situation at a Spirit Lake apartment building led to an apparent standoff until Alameda was later talked into surrendering.

Initial charges in the case included going armed with intent, assault and domestic abuse assault both with intent to inflict serious injury along with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Online court records show all of those charges have been dismissed with Alameda being given a two year suspended jail sentence for one count of first degree harassment.
