Estherville, IA (KICD)– Charges have been filled after police were called to an assault involving a knife Thursday evening in Estherville.

Officers were called to an apartment building on Central Avenue just after eight o’clock where a suspect was reportedly found hiding in a closet and was identified as a person involved in the incident by a witness.

An investigation determined Robicel Abarca Hernandez had gotten into a verbal altercation before he allegedly obtained a knife and began threatening other occupants of the apartment.

Abarca Hernandez has been charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, assault while participating in a felony, use of a dangerous weapon in the the commission of a crime, serious assault and providing false information.

He is being held in the Emmet County Jail on 15-thousand dollars bond.
