Marcus, IA (KICD)– The Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency has announced it will be hosting full-scale training exercises with area rescue agencies tonight at the AG-State facility North of the railroad tracks on Highway 143 in Marcus.
The exercise will simulate a propane spill in a residential area. Key players will be: Cherokee County Emergency Management; the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office; Cherokee County Communications; Marcus police, fire, rescue and ambulance; Cleghorn fire and rescue; Remsen Fire and Rescue; the Cherokee Regional Medical Center; and Wings Air Care.
The event is funded by Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and the Region 4 Local Emergency Planning Commission.
Emergency Management Director Justin Pritts says the public is welcome to observe, but are asked to keep their distance and keep parked vehicles out of the way.
