Spencer, IA (KICD)– Spencer’s City Attorney spent some time at the most recent meeting of the City Council giving an update on two matters that have been on his desk for some time.

Don Hemphill says the first continues to revolve around the smell issue from the egg processing facility on the west side of the community.

There was an inquiry made by the council asking if staff had begun to follow up with other businesses in the Industrial Park to ensure the process of the reducing the smell has been mitigated. Councilman Tom Nelson, who also own property in the area, says he has noticed a change as time has gone on.

The other court-like matter on the docket was an update on the land acquisition north of Schoeman’s that Hemphill says appears to be making progress.

The plan once this land is acquired by the city is to construct what will be known as 24th Street which came about as part of another potential economic expansion deal.
